Things to do

Watch the local divers leap 24 metres from Stari Most

Each summer, trained members of Mostar’s diving club climb to the apex of Stari Most and leap into the cold Neretva twenty-four metres below — a tradition documented for generations and the city’s most distinctive living custom.

Mostar

Catch sunset over the bridge from Lučki most

A short walk downstream from Stari Most, the low Lučki most footbridge opens a quieter, head-on view of the Old Bridge and the Neretva — a calm place to watch the light change over the river as the day ends.

Mostar

Visit the Pliva lakes and traditional watermills

A half-day upstream of Jajce to the turquoise Pliva lakes and the old wooden watermills at Mlinčići — the gentle, photogenic counterpoint to the town’s fortress and waterfall.

Jajce

Hike through the mountains and landscapes of Sutjeska

A walking journey across the wider mountain landscape of Sutjeska — the canyon, the high peaks, the Zelengora plateau and its lakes — the experience that ties the park’s separate sights into one wilderness.

Sutjeska National Park

Raft the Tara Canyon

A rafting descent through the Tara Canyon — the experience that makes Foča an adventure destination, run on the clear, powerful water of one of Europe’s deepest river gorges.

Foča

Swim and spend a day on the Adriatic in Neum

A day in and beside the water of Neum Bay — swimming from the town’s small beaches and bathing platforms, resting on the shore, and eating fish beside the sea on the country’s only coast.

Neum

Hutovo Blato Nature Park

Oyster Farm Visit and Tasting at Mali Ston

Visit the oyster racks on the Mali Ston bay and eat the catch at the farm edge — raw, lemoned and seconds old, with the bay’s wine in hand.

Pelješac

Cavtat

Climb Banj Brdo for the panorama over Banja Luka

The wooded hill immediately south of the city, climbed by a forest path to a WWII monument and one of the finest panoramas over Banja Luka and the Vrbas valley — a quiet, green escape within walking distance of the centre.

Banja Luka

Walk Travnik’s old town, fortress and historic centre

A short, self-guided walk through Travnik’s compact centre — up to the fortress, down through the bazaar street to the painted Šarena Džamija and the Ivo Andrić house, and out to the blue Plava Voda spring — the way to take in the whole vizier town in a single relaxed loop.

Travnik

Ski Jahorina on the Olympic slopes

A day skiing the groomed slopes of Jahorina — the largest ski area in Bosnia & Herzegovina, and the same mountain that hosted the women’s alpine skiing of the 1984 Olympics.

Jahorina

Each summer trained local divers leap from its apex into the emerald water twenty-four metres below.
