The route in detail
The Peaks of the Balkans is the 192-km transboundary loop through the Prokletije (“the Accursed Mountains”) of Kosovo & Metohija, Albania and Montenegro; the Rugova gorge and the high villages above Peć form the Kosovo stages. The trail is permit-managed (the transboundary permits via the peaks of the Balkans association) and the guesthouse network feeds the multi-day hikers.
